New Web Site

Well, it's been awhile since I posted. I don't have any followers yet, but figured I'd give it another try.

I spent most of today putting together a new website for the Lakeside Retreat. Come check it out. Let me know what you think. Go to thelakesideretreat.com. It's our cottage up north. I talked Mike into making it a retreat for quilters and scrapbookers. We've had one group already and have another one scheduled for next week. Yea!!

Also today I finished a little quilt that I had seen on the web. It's a new technique by Terrie Sandelin. I really liked the way it turned out. Each block finishes to 2". Overall size of my quilt is 14 x 16. It's made with the new Barbara Brackman line 1862 Battle Hymn.

Well, I've decided that it is time to clean house and get some of my projects done this year. Today I made a cute computer bag for Calli. I also have been working on a table topper and finished it. All I have to do is quilt it!! Next project.

My First Blog

Well, everyone seems to be doing it, so why shouldn't I? I figured it might be nice to give this blogging thing a try and keep all of you up to date on what's going on here.

I did the Haslett Craft Show last weekend. For all of you that came out, thank you. The show seemed at little slow but I'm not sure if it was because it was MSU homecoming weekend or not. Micaela comes with me and has started making bracelets and sells them. It's a nice way for her to make some extra spending money.
I must admit that my purses seem to be taking a back burner to my mittens and hats. Purses just don't seem to sell well in the winter months. On the other hand, mittens sell extremely well. I started making mittens out of sweaters. Doing my part to help save the environment. RECYCLE!! They are felted and then I cut them out and add fleece to the inside. SO WARM!! I also started making hats using new and used wool. That's Micaela with one of my hats. Every time she puts one on I sell one. They look so cute on her. They keep your head warm too. Kind of has that vintage look to it.
I was out to the Hen House last week picking up my Settler's Pride BOM. Can't wait to get started on that. It's going to be an all wool quilt with tons of applique. Very cool. Anyway, while I was out there Nancy asked to see my hats and is going to try to sell a couple from her store!! I hope that works out.
Guess that's it for my first try. It's kind of fun. See you later
